Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman, was the founder of independent Bangladesh. He was born in 17
March 1920 at Tungipara in Gopalgonj. His father’s name was sheikh Lutfur
Rahman and mother’s name was Sayara Begum. He started going to School at the
age of nine and entered into class three. He passed the matriculation
examination from the Gopalgonj mission school. He obtained B.A degree in 1947
from the Calcutta Islamic College. Afterwards, he joined the politics and did
his best for the Bengali nation to make us free from the misrule and oppression
of the Pakistan rulers. He put his utmost efforts to make this country
independent. He was called Bangabandhu which means Friend of Bengal.
He
married his paternal cousin Fazilatunnesa when she was 13. They had five
children, Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehena, Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal, Sheikh
Rasel.
He was
arrested at 25th march, 1971 and was taken to Pakistan. He was sent
back to his own country in 10 January 1972. He was the prime minister and
sometime president of Bangldesh. He was assassinated by some misguided army
officers on 15th August, 1975. He was engraved at Tungipara.
